Overview
In 2017, HuaSheng manufactured aluminum signage for Romania's transport system. The 120,000 m² Guangzhou factory produced the signs for export to Europe. Romanian Transport appears in the company's client references. Other clients include IKEA, Hong Kong MTR, the Beijing Olympics Committee, the Government of Qatar, New Zealand Post and Korean municipalities. The project extends HuaSheng's public facility work into Romania.
The procurement challenge
Public procurement specifications define the required design, materials and quality records. Delivered signs must match those specifications, with consistent appearance across the batch. Overseas suppliers need drawings, material declarations, process descriptions and inspection records. Controlled fabrication helps maintain consistent units. Buyers and contractors can keep these documents with their procurement records.
EU procurement & documentation requirements
Wayfinding signage for a European transport network carries requirements that shape how the product must be engineered and documented:
- Specification traceabilityEvery panel, post and fastener must trace back to the tendered drawings, with engineering review recorded before production starts.
- Quality-system evidence. Buyers can request evidence of an audited quality management system. HuaSheng uses ISO 9001 quality management and DMAIC process control.
- Durable outdoor finish. Signs face frost, rain and summer heat. Suitable coatings help protect the metal and keep signs readable.
- Batch color consistency. Signage requires consistent color and gloss across the batch. Automated coating helps control these properties.
Materials & engineering approach
The project specified aluminum. Its low weight supports installation on posts, and flat panels keep graphics readable. Aluminum also accepts powder coating. HuaSheng used profiles and sheet with laser cutting, CNC punching, bending and tube forming. Welded and mechanical joints support outdoor use. Factory surface treatment covered pretreatment, electrophoresis, powder coating and baking.
Manufacturing & quality process
Eight production steps covered drawing review, incoming inspection, cutting and forming, welding and riveting, surface treatment, assembly, final inspection and export packing. Final inspection covered appearance and structure. DMAIC control includes incoming, first-part, production and final inspections. These steps provide records for buyers. ISO 9001 certification covers design, fabrication, assembly and shipment.
Delivery & outcome
HuaSheng protected the signs for sea transport and planned loading to use the available container space. Drawings supported local installation. The project added Romania to the company's European references. It complements shelter deliveries in the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.
