Overview
In 2019, HuaSheng manufactured all-aluminum bus shelters to Korean municipal standards. The 120,000 m² Guangzhou factory produced modular units for installation by local teams. Korean municipalities appear in the company's client references. Other overseas references include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Nepal, New Zealand and Romania.
The procurement challenge
Korean municipal buyers specify dimensions, structural sections, glazing, finishes and sign positions against standard drawings. Each shelter in a batch must meet those specifications. Suppliers must repeat the design consistently and document the results. This project required an all-aluminum structure with consistent dimensions and finishes across the batch.
Aluminum & standards requirements
Aluminum was specified for reasons that recur in Korean and other East Asian municipal tenders. As design requirements, they translate into engineering constraints the manufacturer must meet:
- Corrosion behavior. Aluminum forms a natural oxide layer. Pretreatment and powder coating add protection for humid summers, coastal conditions and winter de-icing exposure.
- WeightAn all-aluminum frame is significantly lighter than an equivalent steel structure, simplifying craneage, foundation loads and installation by municipal contractors.
- Precision extrusionsAluminum profiles hold tight, repeatable cross-sections, which supports the standardized, modular look Korean municipal design guidelines call for.
- Finish uniformity. Municipal specifications require consistent color and gloss across the batch. Factory coating and process control must deliver this consistency.
Materials & engineering approach
HuaSheng used aluminum profiles for the shelter frames. Modular frames connect with bolts, allowing flat-packed shipment and local assembly. Staff grouped parts by assembly sequence. Tempered safety glass and canopy panels include drainage and shade features. Factory surface treatment covered pretreatment, electrophoresis, powder coating and baking.
Manufacturing & quality process
Production followed eight steps under HuaSheng's ISO 9001 quality system. These covered drawing review, incoming inspection, cutting and forming, welding and riveting, surface treatment, assembly, final inspection and export packing. Electrical parts and accessories were installed during assembly. Final inspection covered appearance, structure and electrical systems. DMAIC process control provides records for municipal buyers. HuaSheng also holds patents for shelter designs, structures, light boxes and connectors.
Delivery & outcome
HuaSheng delivered modular, flat-packed shelters with parts grouped by assembly sequence. Container loading plans used the available space. Assembly drawings and remote support helped local installers. The project added Korea to HuaSheng's overseas shelter references and demonstrated consistent aluminum fabrication, coating and quality inspection.
